TIP OF THE HAT TO PAUL NORRIS, WELL DONE! WELL DONE!

Jason Momoa (Conan, Stargate Atlantis) is going to play Aquaman in the movies, but did you know that Golden & Silver Age comic book artist Paul Norris co-created the original character?

Back in the Golden Age, Paul illustrated Sandman & Aquaman (which he also co-created) . His Aquaman origin showed up in Secret Origins #7 in the Silver Age.

Over the years, Norris drew comic strips, 35 years of Brick Bradford & filled in on Secret Agent X-9.

Paul did some impressive artistic runs on Magnus, Robot Fighter #24-#28 & most of all on Tarzan #188-#206

Norris also worked on Flash Gordon #1 & Tono and Kono, The Jungle Twins #1. He co-created the Jungle Twins. Of European birth, the twins were raised by an African chief, traveling through Africa, having adventures. It was later revealed they were of royal decent, their parents being the rulers of Glockenberg, a fictional kingdom in Europe.

On a lighter note, Paul illustrated Dynomutt, in Marvel Comics' TV Stars #3 which sported an Alex Toth cover & Space Ghost story, with the Herculoids drawn by Will Meugniot (DNA Agents) and Dave Stevens (Yes, The Rocketeer creator!) Mark Evanier wrote these three great stories.

Paul Norris well deserves a tip of the hat, for his various contributions to comic books.

Thank You!

  1. Aquaman is a favorite, especially the Nick Cardy and Ramona Fradon renditions.
