Gold Key's The Invaders comic book series is based on the TV show The Invaders starring Roy Thinnes.
David Vincent, an architect returning home after a hard, hard, day parks
his car in an old ghost town in order to rest for a while before
continuing on home. Suddenly, in the middle of the night, something
wakes him: a strange object, nonhuman, that is landing in front of his
eyes. From this moment he will be trying to persuade a skeptical world
that the invasion of our planet is going on, that the nightmare has
begun...
The biggest change came in the thirty-first episode, “The
Believers,” in which David Vincent finally gave up his solo fight and
joined with a consortium of wealthy and influential Americans who had
all encountered the aliens first-hand. Character actor Kent Smith
joined the cast as Edgar Scoville, a well-connected electronics
manufacturer and government defense contractor who leads the group.
The Invaders #4 The Fate of the Earth is in David Vincent's Hands! The Doomsday Window!
"The Doomsday Window"
Vincent and Scoville encounter three invaders on a lonely road, transporting an mysterious, hoop shaped device.
Written by the prolific Paul S. (Turok, Son of Stone, Yellow Submarine, Lone Ranger) Newman with Dan (Blackhawk, Crossfire) Spiegle art.
"Rendezvous at Grizzly Mesa"
An anonymous phone call sends Vincent and Scoville on a dangerous hunt for secret meeting of invader leaders.
Edgar Scoville, main character in the TV series, appears in both stories.
Art by Dan (Space Family Robinson, Green Hornet) Spiegle.
Even though it was the last issue, it was great to see a major character from the second season of the TV series appear in the comics.
A couple of fillers from The Invaders #4. |
