My all time favorite television series is The Prisoner starring Patrick McGoohan.
Fantastic, thought provoking series of seventeen episodes from beginning to end. As a summer replacement for the Jackie Gleason Show, one of the episodes was censored in the U.S. due to its controversy at the time of the Vietnam war.
A few years later, PBS repeated the series, with the seventeenth episode shown for the first time in the U.S. It was an episode where the Prisoner refused to wear a gun, as a lawman in a wild west town.
Well, I've seen Jack Kirby's vision for a number of years, I even obtained a printed copy of it previous to finding it online. Even though the comic never saw print, the subject was covered in a Fantastic Four four issue storyline (starts in #84) with the infamous Doctor Doom as the Number Two in his Latverian country village.
Love this splash page from "The King!" |
Since I enjoy looking at it from time to time, I thought of sharing it for anyone out there that may not have seen it.
So, without further ado, here's the unpublished The Prisoner, by Jack "the King" Kirby!
By the way, the first of the three novels is available as an ebook with an updated cover to go with the latest DVD & BD release of the television series. I would highly recommend it!
