Ogden Whitney left behind a huge amount of comic book work from the Golden Age. I remember him for the important amount of Silver Age work he contributed to as well, especially on NoMan (although I love this Gil Kane cover) of the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents (The Higher United Nations Defense Enforcement Reserves.)
Whitney also did a fair amount of Silver Age work for Marvel & Tower Comics.
For Marvel, Ogden drew gruff Nick Fury in Strange Tales #149, reprinted in S.H.I.E.L.D. #2 (with a terrific Steranko cover!) Additionally, he worked on most of a Two-Gun Kid #87-#129 run (with a few gaps.) Two-Gun Kid also appeared in Mighty Marvel Western #10.
At Tower, Whitney illustrated NoMan #1 & #2, along with T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #9, #10, #13, #15, #17 & #18. That's what I remember him for, NoMan.
So, all in all, I see Ogden Whitney leaving a great legacy in the Silver Age, as well as his prolific career in the Golden Age.
P.S. Please notice that I have added a couple of new links to the list, Bleeding Cool & Newsarama. Have fun!
