Dan Spiegle was born in my neck of the woods, by the coast in Washington State. He grew up here, as well as Hawaii and California.
Dan's career began in the comic strips. From there he went to Dell Comics on Maverick, Sea Hunt, The Rifleman, The Untouchables, The Aquanauts & Rawhide.
Spiegle was quoted as Maverick being a favorite comic book, especially since he actually visited the set of the show and met James Garner (so sad, rest in peace.)
Dan also worked for DC (Secret Six, Green Arrow), Marvel (Hellraiser), Eclipse (Crossfire) and Dark Horse (Indiana Jones) & Comico (Jonny Quest) Comics.
I remember Spiegle best for Gold Key Comics' Space Family Robinson, Captain Venture (back-up stories) & The Black Hole adaptation in Walt Disney Showcase #54. It's great to relive these comic books with the Dark Horse Archives.
Dan also drew The Invaders (still a big time favorite), The Green Hornet (wow, Bruce Lee was amazing!), Space Ghost & Herculoids in Hanna-Barbera Super TV Heroes.
