Here's some background on this Prisoner comic book. 

Marvel originally had the rights to the Prisoner and Marv Wolfman (Teen Titans, Night Force) and Gene Colan (Nathaniel Dusk, Daredevil) were to produce a Prisoner comic since Wolfman was a big fan. Eventually it went to Steve Englehart (Point Man, Avengers) and Gil Kane (His Name is Savage, Green Lantern) and an 18 page first issue was scripted and laid out (initially by Joe Staton (E-Man, Space:1999.) 

 After Marv Wolfman stepped down the project was shelved and has never been published.

One of The Prisoner Comics That Was Not to Appear !!!

Here's where it all started for me for a number of years. I was not aware of further pages of the comic produced, much less available or in print.

Then Heritage had an auction for a number of the pages Gil Kane did for the comic. Still, there were only a few more pages shown, leaving me wanting more. It drove me crazy. I'm a nut for The Prisoner TV series and a comic was the chance to live on with the excitement.

I loved Gil Kane doing the artwork while Steve Englehart handled the scripting. I enjoyed the works Englehart did, Avengers, Point Man, he was great not only in comics but writing novels as well.

Now were were moving, I had 4 or 5 pages of art to enjoy. But how many had been drawn. Little did I know that there was a full comic drawn. Not only that, but just a few months ago, I found the script to go along with the artwork. I was ecstatic. Since my blog deals with comic books, a huge passion of mine, especially Silver and Bronze Age I could merge that with my all time favorite TV series.

Okay, I do want to get something posted today, so I will be continuing this blog tomorrow.

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Friendly Neighborhood Amazing Spider-Man 2!!!

Hightly recommended, this is a great movie for all the Amazing Spider-Man fans. The gang's all here, writers Alex Kurtzman, Robert Orci & Jeff Parker. Directed by Marc Webb. In the supporting cast, we've got Peter Parker, his Aunt May, Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborne, Elektro and the Rhino.

Peter is really getting into the swing of things. I loved the effects, believing a man can swing and swing he does extremely well.

Be sure to watch out for the Stan Lee early on in the film. Wouldn't want to miss it. I look forward to the cameos and glad they are adding him to the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Peter Parker's ring tone is a flashback to the cartoon in the sixties cracked me up. Always going off in the most inopportune times. 




The Rhino didn't play as large a part as I was expecting. I got the impression from the previews that it would be a larger role. But what can you say about Paul Giamonti, he always carries off his characters well. It will be something to look forward to.




At first, Spider-Man saves the soon to be Elektro character's life and blueprints. I forget how Elektro was portrayed in the Ditko comics and his origin. I liked him in the movie and I'll need to go back and check him out in the early Marvel comic books.

Elektro is menacing looking after the transformation. The fight scenes are carried off really, really well. There's homage to the Star Trek U.S S. Enterprise during these fight scenes.




There's a lot of romance and quandary for Peter Parker and his relationship with Gwen Stacy (she's just so darn cute.) Poor Peter is always second guessing himself.

There are definite homages of the Gwen Stacy from the comic books.




I missed the Mary Jane character cut from the film as not to take away from Gwen Stacy. Loss to the viewer, not sure, the geek in me says yes, a loss.

I enjoyed seeing so much of Harry Orborne from what I was anticipating. There was good chemistry between Harry and Peter enhancing the movie.




Now, the pictures don't do justice with Harry turning into the Green Goblin. He does carry it off well.The fight scenes are intense, with footage cut to get the PG-13 rating. I'll be looking for that footage added when it comes out on BluRay.

There are homages to a couple more villains as well as a couple more villains mentioned in the course of the movie.




Overall, this was a great movie to watch on the big screen. Okay, the sneak peek was during the credits and not at the very end of them. So, I waded through all the credits expecting another on at the bitter end. Unfortunately not so.

The film runs 142 minutes, so it does get a little long. And, of course, it is wide open for the third installment.

Don Pendleton's Mack Bolan Executioner

Been meaning to share this from Gold Eagle Books for Waldenbooks, one of the old brick and mortar bookstores. Always enjoyed the Executioner, especially the early days when they were written by Don Pendleton.

They have gone through lots of fine authors in the Executioner series, Mike Newton, Raymond Obstfeld, Stephen Mertz, Peter Leslie, Dan Schmidt, Mel Odom, David Robbins & Keith DeCandido to name a few. I've always appreciated they give credit to the writers on the publishing information page.

Don Pendleton was a great man. He will be missed, but always remembered for Mack Bolan and the Executioner family.

Modeling the Polar Lights Green Hornet Black Beauty

  It’s been awhile since I’ve been into modeling, since I was growing up if I really want to count it up. 

I assembled a Polar Lights Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Seaview model but have yet to complete the painting I want to do on it. I will be posting it soon after finishing the Black Beauty. 

I was hooked on the Green Hornet TV series with the popularity of the Batman TV series. It stared Van Williams and a young Bruce Lee. You might know him from Enter the Dragon, but he also did some TV appearances as well, on Ironside (Raymond Burr) and Longstreet (James Franciscus.) 

Back then, his Jeet Kune Do was Gung Fu and it did become quite popular. He did some great martial arts on the TV show. In the movies, one of my favorites was his destroying Marlowe’s office in the James Garner film. 

There was a couple of original books published based on the show. They were received with little attention. 

I have yet to try any of the videos on Amazon or such as I've seen a lot of negative comments. 

The model I started and completed yesterday is a reissue of an older Aurora model that I did when growing up. I liked it then, I still like it. Glad I did it and would recommend it if you like the show and  modeling. 

It is a moderately challenging model, although I did need to do a lot of trimming. I did a little painting inside, on the control panel as well as the exterior rockets and headlights.  

Next, after the fine tuning on the Seaview, I will be tackling the Flying Sub, also from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Look forward to showing it off when completed as well.
